June 16th marked our 1st annual Whitey’s Chicken Cook fundraiser for Wings for Our Troops “in loving memory of CPL Chad S Wade”. It was a huge success! We raised $1,250 in chicken sales and an additional $1,202 in t-shirt sales and just cash donations. It was pretty warm outside, but never too hot to still have fun and enjoy seeing all the support we were getting for our Troops! It does a heart good to see such an amazing turn out for such a worthy cause. We had so many people who participated in making this as successful as we did. Mike and Wendy Jones worked with Best Sign Group in Rogers, AR http://bestbannerandsign.com/ to create our banner for WFOT. My cousin James Causby of Innovative Ink in NC http://innovativeink.net/ printed 144 t-shirts for us and got them to us in days in time for the chicken cook. Chad’s friends from school came and worked hard to help sell the chicken and the parents of most of these kids worked with us to set up, sell chicken, and work the t-shirt table. Our kids and sister were there to help do everything we were doing to make it easier on all of us. The Rogers Fire Department (Station 1) showed up to fly our American Flag proudly for us and stayed to show their support to the end, and Whitey and his “chicken crew” kicked booty again grilling the chicken. We couldn’t have been as successful without all the people who stopped by and bought chicken, t-shirts, or just made a donation! We felt tremendously blesed to have the love and support for all who helped and participated in this fundraiser. I truly look forward to every year being more successful than the one before.
Thank you to all and I can’t wait to purchase the next ticket to send a Marine home before and/or after deployment! It will be because of you that we are able to do that.
