WOW! what a tournament and show of support for our Troops! My sister, Amber Banks, along with family and friends and countless sponsors and donors made this year a record fundraiser for Wings for Our Troops collecting a total of $9,681.66! this amount was achieved through 48 golfers, hole sponsors, t-shirt sales, raffle tickets, and cash sponsors/donations.
We would like to first thank my sister, Amber (aka Paige), for all her hard work to pull off such a successful golf tournament in a very short amount of time. she could not have done this without some very important people to help her and we would like to take a moment to give a shout out to her husband, Rodney Banks, owner/operator of Blue Water Carpentry in Asheville, NC http://www.ebidroom.com/directoryentry.aspx?key=4300, Jennifer Cole, Jorden Holcombe, TJ Bishop, Brenda & Don Young owner/operator of Able Applicance (our parents) http://http://local.botw.org/North_Carolina/Swannanoa/Able_Appliance_Sales_and_Service/135631120.html, Lisa Banks Saye, and Brent Reynolds. Thank you to Sarah Heilig and Andy Clark for donating their photography skills to capture all the fun.
In addition to family and friends that came out to help with this tournament we have to give a very special thanks to High Vista Country Club www.highvistagolf.com, for hosting this event for us and they have already committed to hosting again next year! We would love for this to become an annual fundraiser each year and look forward to working with High Vista Country Club each year. they were very gracious and very professional and instrumental in making this such a success. Also, we would like to give a special thanks to some folks that without them this would not have been possible. Special thanks to Dixon Golf www.dixongolf.com, and Roger turner of Hendersonville, David Lagadi (Jazz Singer) www.DaveLagadiMusic.com and would also like to recognize Mr. Lagadi for his work with the Veterans Restoration Quarters in Asheville, NC. Each and every person that took time out of their Saturday whether to play golf, sponsor holes, donate prizes, trophies, or just showed up for support and encouragement or worked as the staff, we could not have done this without you. You just single handledly helped someone in the military get home before and/or after deplyment to war and unless you’ve been in the situation where that might not be a possibility to see your loved one(s) before or after a deployment, it’s hard to truly understand how important that really is. As a mom of a Marine who did not return home from deployment, those eleven days we were able to have him home for his pre-deployment leave will truly be the eleven days of heaven I could never replace. It is mine and my husband’s dream that no family ever miss that opportunity with their Marine/Soldier because of financial retraints ever again. So from the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU!
Enjoy some pictures from this very fun and successful event… courtsey of Sarah Heilig www.facebook/sarah.heilig.9.com and some from Andy Clark www.andrewclarkphotography.com. Thank you both for donating your time and these pictures for this event. We truly appreciate it.
