We are privileged enough to work for a company like Tyson Foods, Inc. that allows their Team Members to participate in a Jeans Week fundraiser for certain charities. They were gracious enough to allow us to hold a Jeans Week for Wings for Our Troops “in loving memory of CPL Chad S Wade” last week and currently we have raised $4,400.00. I just received another notification that we just got a little more than my last update. It’s crazy how giving people are around this grateful Nation, but it does the heart good to know the company you work for is willing to allow us to do things like this for such a worthy cause.
Thanks to things like Jeans Week at Tyson Foods, Inc. and the golf tournaments my sister and other family and friends put on in Asheville, NC and the Whitey’s Chicken Cooks in Rogers, AR and just random donations and fundraisers like Daisy & Elm as well as Glen Clark with his donations from his book “How to Say Good-Bye” we were able to send a Navy Seaman home today to be with his family (especially his father).
We can’t do this alone. There are so many people who give of their time and money to help us do what we are doing. It feels good to know we are all making a difference and I hope that everyone who has ever given or held a fundraiser realizes just how much we appreciate all you have done, but more than that, these service men and women are so grateful for the help.
I have to remind them constantly that this is not a hand out or charity, but a small gesture of thanks from a very grateful Nation for their service and sacrifice. This seems so small in comparison to what they do and what they give up for all of us.
Thank you again to all who have helped and participated or just made a donation. It is because of you that we can do what we do for our Troops.
